The Christmas holiday and coming year will be a little sweeter for thousands of families across our state, following passage of the minimum wage ballot question. As of January 1, 2014, approximately 400,000 families will begin to earn some additional income, which will go a long way towards making ends meet, affording an extra meal, spending more time with family, and being able to fulfill a child’s Christmas wish.
We could not be prouder of what we were able to accomplish by working together this year, and we thank you for fighting to make this victory possible. We look forward to making 2014 an equally, if not more successful year with your continued support. Together, we will carry on the fight for worker justice and shared economic prosperity; we will strengthen our partnerships with community allies to promote our shared values; and we will speak with one unified voice to advance a progressive vision for our state and nation. Together, we will overcome steep challenges and seize the opportunities that lay ahead.
Now as 2013 comes to a close, we would like to wish all of our brothers and sisters a happy and restful holiday and the very best in the New Year. Your courage, strength, and effort not only made history this year, but made our state a better place to live and raise a family. We could not be any more grateful for the incredible difference which you made this year, but we know that our efforts have only just begun.
