New Jersey State AFL-CIO labor candidate victories now total 817
Congratulations to Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU 819) brother Ray Greaves on being selected to serve on the Bayonne School Board.
Brother Greaves was sworn in to an unexpired term Thursday night, and he plans to run for the remainder of the term in November.
Brother Greaves’ win marks the 817th victory for the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Labor Candidates Program. Our program has seen unparalleled success: 3 out of 4 labor-endorsed candidates won their races last November. We now have union members serving in federal, state, county and local offices.
The state federation’s unique Labor Candidates Program instructs union brothers and sisters who are running for office, or thinking of running, on the nuts and bolts skills needed to run a successful campaign.
Brother Greaves is no stranger to local politics. He was Bayonne’s 3rd Ward Councilman, and has served on the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment, Board of School Estimate and Local Redevelopment Authority.
He chairs the Amalgamated Transit Union’s New Jersey State Council, is a member of NJ Transit’s Board of Directors and vice president of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Executive Board. He also founded the Ray Greaves Association, which supports local civic and charitable projects.
We again offer him our heartfelt congratulations as he embarks on this new public-service mission.
