The New Jersey State AFL-CIO and its affiliates joined today with thousands progressive allies in support of commonsense immigration reform at Jersey City’s Liberty State Park, demonstrating the ongoing commitment of America’s unions to speak with one voice, along with our civil rights, faith and community partners, to pass fundamental reform.
Working people are strongest when we speak with one voice, and the union movement is strongest when it is open to all workers. Comprehensive immigration reform is a commonsense approach to upholding these core union principles and moving our country forward by halting employers who take advantage of our failed immigration policies to pursue a race to the bottom.
The national AFL-CIO Executive Council reaffirmed its commitment to passing comprehensive immigration reform, and the New Jersey State AFL-CIO is proud to join in full support of this effort to create an organized and realistic path to citizenship that raises standards for all working families and keeps our economy strong.
Thank you to our union brothers and sisters and community allies who joined for this rally. We look forward to your continued support. Now is the time to pass real immigration reform that respects the dignity of all workers in our country.
