Your hard work paid off bigtime on Election Day with impressive wins for New Jersey State AFL-CIO labor-endorsed candidates at every level of government. Despite some disappointing results across the nation, New Jersey was a beacon of hope, winning important Election Day victories on the federal, state and local level. Thanks to the vigilance of labor volunteers, union brother Donald Norcross, IBEW Local 351, and Bonnie Watson Coleman, the first African-American woman to represent New Jersey, were elected to Congress, and Sen. Cory Booker was elected to his first full term as a U.S. Senator.
Because of your support and hard work, we elected a total of 31 labor candidates to office across the state, making the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Labor Candidates Program one of the best in the nation.
Whether you gave up a lunch hour to build labor packets, staffed a phone bank after work, visited fellow union members’ homes on Saturdays or went door-to-door on Election Day to Get Out The Vote, we thank you wholeheartedly for your part in making these labor victories possible. The labor-backed candidates we just elected will now have our backs. Their victories would not have been possible without you. With your continued support, our labor candidates program will grow stronger in the months ahead, culminating in even more reasons to celebrate next year!
