Multinational corporations and right-wing congressional leaders are trying to pass the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) – an awful backroom trade deal that will put Americans out of work, degrade environmental protections, and increase prescription drug prices. If that weren’t bad enough, proponents want a vote to take place during “lame duck” to avoid public scrutiny.
The good news is that TPP can be stopped with your continued support and participation in today’s national call-in day. All you have to do is call your member of Congress and urge him or her to oppose the TPP. To be connected to your representative’s office call 1-855-712-8441.
The labor movement and the solidarity of our members and allies are the reason that TPP has not yet passed, and we must make sure that we see the fight through to the finish. By adding your voice to today’s nationwide effort, we can do just that.
It is up to all of us to hold Congress accountable. There are few issues as critical to the future of our nation and middle class as global trade. More than ever before, we must demand that Congress stand with working people. Let’s pick up our phones right now to make it happen.
