The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is asking you to support our UNITE HERE 54 brothers and sisters, who have been negotiating in good faith and whose employer recently cut health care coverage for the workers.
We were recently notified by UNITE HERE 54 that the owner of the Wyndham Garden Hotel near the state Capitol in Trenton abruptly changed the conditions of employment for 53 employees four weeks ago.
On February 7th, hotel owner Edison Holding/Welcome Hotel Group LLC canceled health insurance benefits, stopped paid time off and began to demand that employees perform additional jobs for which they are not compensated. An unfair labor practice complaint has been filed with the National Labor Relations Board.
These ongoing unfair labor practices leave us NO CHOICE but to request that our one million members and their families, our union allies and lawmakers keep this in mind when making local meeting and travel arrangements. We encourage our many allies and affiliates to stand with our UNITE HERE 54 brothers and sisters until this situation is resolved.
We greatly appreciate your solidarity and support.
