Turnpike and Parkway workers are battling against privatization and fighting to keep their jobs. Yesterday’s picket to oppose privatization was a tremendous success, bringing together 60 supporters representing a diverse group of unions. Your solidarity is the key to preserving these jobs, and we once again ask that you lend your support.
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority Board of Commissioners is set to make its final decision on whether or not to approve the privatization contract. Therefore, we need to make our voices heard and show our solidarity with workers at the Board’s upcoming meeting.

We will make it clear that privatization is the wrong way forward for the Turnpike and the Parkway. Not only would privatization jeopardize middle class jobs and destabilize an experienced workforce with a track record of success, but privatization time and time again fails to live up to the lofty cost-savings and efficiency goals that are promised.
The fact remains that our union brothers and sisters, represented by IFPTE Locals 194, 193, 196, 200/200A, AFSCME 3914, and Teamsters Local 97, have provided the Turnpike Authority with first-rate and reliable service over the years. These workers have proven to be more than negotiable after making huge concessions resulting in pay cuts of more than $16,000 per worker. It is time for the Turnpike Authority to respect the loyalty and commitment of its workforce and preserve these jobs. We look forward to your continued support.
