Closure of the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City would result in the loss of 2,100 good jobs for the community. Members of UNITE HERE! Local 54, IUOE 68, IUPAT D.C. 711, Carpenters 255, and the Teamsters would all be impacted. That is why we ask all affiliates and community partners to join for a march in Atlantic City to bring all stakeholders to the table and explore all possible options to keep the Showboat in business.
Now more than ever, our state’s families and economy need good middle class jobs. These jobs already exist at the Showboat, and it is up to us to preserve them. But jobs are not the only thing at stake. Closing the Showboat would further jeopardize the struggling economy of Atlantic City by hurting nearby small businesses.
We ask that you please join us for a march on the Atlantic City boardwalk so that we can preserve good jobs and achieve a bright future for the city.
