SAMPLE LETTER OF AFFILIATE USE

Dear WORKER/VOTER Volunteer:

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO has created the WORKER/VOTER Program as a campaign to register union members to vote. The acronym stands for Worksite Organization and Recruitment to Keep Everyone Registered. Our union has joined this aggressive drive to increase the number of labor families on the voter rolls. We must be able to elect officials who support our working families’ legislative agenda, and defeat those who don’t.

You are invited to be a WORKER/VOTER volunteer representing our union. We need your help to fulfill our local’s goal to achieve 100% voter registration among our members.

The local has scheduled the following meeting:

      DATE:            _______________________

      TIME:            _______________________

      PLACE:         _______________________

During this meeting, we will discuss our plan for our WORKER/VOTER Day. Your participation in this program is critical to its success.

When union members are registered to vote, we have a say about the issues affecting working families. These issues include good jobs, minimum wage, fair trade, social security, health insurance, deregulation, education, school construction and civil service. We need to elect politicians who will protect what we’ve fought for and who care about our future.

Together in 2007, our vote is our voice; let’s make our voice heard.

In Solidarity,
