New Jersey State AFL-CIO and Affiliated Unions Present Massive Union-Made Toy Collection to U.S. Marines Representing the “Toys for Tots” Program

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO, working together with its Executive Board members, Central Labor Councils, Building Trades Councils, and affiliated unions, amassed a mountainous collection of union-made toys which was proudly presented to a team of U.S. Marines today in Trenton, on behalf of the U.S. Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” program.

The spirit of the holidays is thriving today in Trenton, thanks to the enormous generosity of our state’s many unions which donated a towering assortment of toys to the U.S. Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” program. During these difficult times, a child’s smile can go a long way to giving us hope for the future. It is uplifting to know that each toy we deliver today brings another smile to a child over the holidays.

The New Jersey labor movement is committed to supporting families recovering from Superstorm Sandy in any way we can. Our participation in the “Toys for Tots” program is a small gesture that goes a long way to giving back to our state’s families, their children, and the community.

This toy drive brings joy to our state’s families, and at the same time, by purchasing union-made toys, we are supporting good jobs that respect workers’ voices, worker safety, and help in achieving a middle class lifestyle.

Once again we thank our Executive Board members, Central Labor Councils, Building Trades Councils, affiliated unions, and the U.S. Marine Corps for making this event possible.
