Congratulations to RWDSU Local 108 on Organizing and Contract Victories
RWDSU Local 108 is on a roll organizing workers in our state and we congratulate them on their success. Not only did Local 108 conduct four successful organizing drives, but the local also secured two first contract victories and recently filed two petitions for union elections.
Union election victories were achieved at the Pickle King processing plant in Paterson following an NLRB election of 8-0. One hundred Union City crossing guards and 10 North Bergen Parking Authority employees achieved representation with Local 108. Workers at DeStefano Foods in New Brunswick voted 8-1 in an NLRB election for union representation.
First contract victorieswere secured by 80 part-time City of Hoboken employees and 40 employees with the West New York Parking Authority.
Recently filed petitions were made at the Guttenberg parking authority for five employees and at Shoppers World in Union City for 35 employees.
We welcome our new brothers and sisters to our union family, and congratulate all these workers on their courage to stand up for a voice at their workplace and secure a middle class standard of living for themselves and their families.
We wish RWDSU Local 108 as well as all of our affiliates much success in organizing and look forward to continuing to build and strengthen our collective labor movement.
