VIDEO: Why Mitt Romney is Wrong for Unions and Working Families

There is no ambiguity as to where Mitt Romney stands regarding unions and working families. He is both out of touch with middle class issues and would strategically attack the fundamental principles of the labor movement. Romney has said so much himself during his remarks to the Associated Builders and Contractors on February 23, 2012.

Please share this video far and wide. If you would like a copy to show at your union meeting, please contact Lee Sandberg at 609-989-8730 or lsandberg@njaflcio.org. To sum it up, Romney takes less than one minute to announce that if elected president he will:
Any union members who vote for Mitt Romney are essentially voting against themselves. By educating ourselves and our members on the issues at stake and where the candidates stand, this election is a no-brainer.

Romney’s policies would be a windfall for the corporate elite and a setback to middle class families. Romney would double down on the failed policies of the Bush administration, giving generous tax cuts to the rich while leaving middle class families to pick up the slack. Romney’s allegiance is to profits rather than people. He proved this during his years at Bain Capital by driving healthy businesses into the ground, leaving families without jobs and health care, just to make a quick buck.

These are difficult times for all of us, making it easy to become frustrated or disillusioned. But we cannot let ourselves become so frustrated that we decide not to vote in this election or even worse, vote against our own self-interest. Romney is no friend to unions and working families. We are counting on your support to educate union and community members on the issues and to ensure working families make an informed decision on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
