CONTRACT VICTORY: 45,000 Travel Security Officers (TSOs) Achieve First Contract After 10-Year Effort

Congratulations to the 45,000 AFGE-represented Travel Security Officers (TSOs), who after a 10-year battle -- first with the Bush administration and then with obstructionists in Congress -- at last secured a first contract with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

This is a milestone victory, which would not have been possible without the strong solidarity shown across the nation for our brothers and sisters. We thank all of our affiliates for supporting the TSOs during this campaign. Together we proved that when we are united, we will not be silenced.

This contract represents a major step forward to ensuring an improved labor/management partnership in the TSA and continuing to advance and streamline our nation’s airline security system. Additionally, the TSOs who take care of our families when they travel will now be better able to take care of their own families.

Workers will vote on ratification of the contract later this summer. Be sure to congratulate our brothers and sisters on their first contract next time you are at the airport.
