Minimum Wage Legislation Approved by the Assembly Labor Committee

The Assembly Labor Committee released A-2162 (Oliver / Greenwald / Green / Johnson / Prieto / Wisniewski), which would raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $8.50 and includes annual increases, consistent with increases in the Consumer Price Index.

The vote was 6-2-1 with Democrats Egan, Spencer, Albano, Coughlin, DeAngelo and O’Donnell voting in favor and Republicans Webber and DiMaio voting against. Assemblyman Ron Dancer abstained.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO testified in support of the bill and thanks those affiliates that attended the hearing and testified in favor. We also thank Chairman Egan for posting the bill and the sponsors for their leadership on this issue.
