Obama Announces Three New Appointments to National Labor Relations Board

President Obama announced the recess appointments of Sharon Block, Terence Flynn, and Richard Griffin to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). We are especially proud of Brother Richard Griffin’s appointment to the Board. Brother Griffin currently serves as the General Counsel for the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) and has a long history of fighting to ensure the rights and fair treatment of working people.

These appointments would bring the NLRB to its full five-member strength. Following the expiration of Craig Becker’s term on January 3, 2012, the Board was left with two members – less than the three required to conduct business. Understanding the importance of the NLRB’s mission to protect the rights of working people, we are grateful to the President for taking the necessary steps to maintain the Board’s functionality and bringing it to its full strength.
