Unionwear President Mitch Cahn Initiates Groundbreaking “Made in Newark” Campaign to Promote Union Labor and Local Manufacturing

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO congratulates and thanks Unionwear President Mitch Cahn for his leadership role in promoting union made products and contractors as part of the “Made in Newark” campaign. This unprecedented effort to promote local manufacturing and union products was set-in-motion by Mr. Cahn, who runs a Newark-based textile manufacturing company, Unionwear, which produces 100% union verified custom apparel and accessories such as hats, sports bags, and more. Unionwear factories employ members from the following unions: Workers United shirt and bag factories and embroidery shops, a GCIU screen printer, and a Teamsters t-Shirt factory.

The “Made in Newark” campaign will be launched in conjunction with the GoNewark Hoops Fest taking place in the city from March 24-27, 2011, while the NCAA East Regional Tournament takes place at the Prudential Center. Local manufacturers have been enlisted to design and create GoNewark Hoops Fest merchandise for tens of thousands of fans expected to descend on Newark for the games.

You can find out more about Unionwear on their website or under the “promotional products” section of our Shop Union page. We encourage all unions with needs for custom apparel and accessories to consider Unionwear, a company with innovative ideas to build our communities and a committed champion of union labor.
