Stand with the New Jersey State Building Trades, Send CVS a Message to Build Union

CVS took a blatantly anti-union stand when CVS Project Manager for Northern New Jersey Jay Montero said in reference to several construction and renovation contracts “For us to do business your prices must be competitive with the open shop workforce.”

Like all anti-union companies, CVS fails to realize that by favoring non-union contractors they perpetuate a dangerous “race to the bottom” for wages, compensation, and health care coverage. CVS also overlooks the fact that unions provide the most productive, best trained, safest workforce in the construction industry, while at the same time providing members with full health and welfare coverage.

Since CVS obviously does not respect union work, we encourage you and your family to consider other alternatives for your prescription and home supply needs. Both Walgreens and Rite Aid offer a “competitive” alternative (to use a phrase from Mr. Montero) to CVS. Please stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters from the New Jersey State Building Trades.
