WILD Conference Sees Outstanding Turnout, Gets Rave Reviews

The Seventh Annual Women in Leadership Development (WILD) conference held at the East Brunswick Hilton from March 19-20, 2010, generated an outstanding turnout of over 200 WILD women. The program itself was an extraordinary success that challenged participants to learn more about each other, mentoring, technology and how to become more effective leaders.

We were proud to welcome national AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler to this year’s WILD conference who gave a compelling presentation on the national AFL-CIO’s young workers campaign. It became clear that for the labor movement to sustain itself and serve future generations young workers need to join unions.

We were also delighted to welcome back to WILD the New Jersey State Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver (District 34) who added an invaluable perspective to our discussions on leadership and how to meet our state’s challenges.

One of the main themes of the conference was health care. Participants had a chance to see just how close we are to achieving comprehensive reform and learned how reform will benefit them. On-site health screenings were also provided along with a lunch discussion led by CIGNA HealthCare Segment Leader Kim Bimestefer to promote individual health awareness and self-care.

We thank all the sponsors whose generous support made this conference possible. We thank everyone who participated and look forward to seeing you at next year’s WILD.
