National Solidarity Week: December 13-19 to Support Travel Security Officers’ (TSOs) Organizing Campaign

The national AFL-CIO and New Jersey State AFL-CIO are working with the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) to organize 41,000 Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) at 450 airports nationwide. TSOs have been refused the right to collectively bargain since 2001 and it’s about time that our country’s first line of defense enjoy the benefits of a union contract.

To show our support for the TSOs we are encouraging everyone to be a part of the upcoming national solidarity week taking place from Sunday, December 13 to Saturday, December 19, 2009. Events will take place at nearby airports. More information on the actions will follow soon. Also, please make sure that if you are traveling this holiday season to thank the TSOs for their hard work and remind them to “Vote Yes for AFGE.”

A union contract would help not only to ensure financial stability for TSOs and the families, but as a result it would bring greater strength and vigor to our nation’s security force.
