RECORD SETTING: 1,865 Volunteers Knock on 65,000 Doors, Producing Largest Labor Walk Turnout in State History

Today’s labor walk was the largest ever organized in the history of the New Jersey labor movement. 1,865 volunteers knocked on 65,000 doors across the state, shattering all previous turnouts from any past election. The labor movement is fully united and committed to re-electing Governor Jon Corzine, and today’s record turnout is more proof of this fact.

In addition to the governor’s race, there are a record number of 68 union members running for public office this year – eight of whom are running for the State Assembly – making this be far one of the most consequential elections for working families in recent history.

Labor walks will continue to be held for the remainder of this weekend, and we are working right through to Election Day to make sure there is no question that we can secure victory. The fact remains that this election is up to us, and working together, we will win on Tuesday, November 3, 2009.

At the labor walk today, we were also privileged to have with us in Bergen County, the future Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey, Senator Loretta Weingberg, to share in these last few exciting and busy days before the election.

The incredible success of today’s record labor walk and the Labor 2009 program is a direct result of your tireless work, and we cannot thank you enough.
