Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Prevailing Wage Bill Passes Both Houses

A-3372, supported by the New Jersey State AFL-CIO and sponsored by Assemblypersons Barnes, Diegnan, Evans and Egan passed the State Assembly on May 21, 2009. The legislation seeks to apply prevailing wage requirements to construction projects connected with Board of Public Utilities financial assistance.  The bill passed 54-22-3-1, with all Democrats present voting in support.  Assembly Republicans voting in favor were John Amodeo (R-2), Ron Dancer (R-30), Joe Malone (R-30), Vince Polistina (R-2), David Rible (R-11), Scott Rumana (R-40), Brian Rumph (R-9), Sam Thompson (R-13) and Daniel Van Pelt (R-9). 

 

The Senate companion, sponsored by Senators Sweeney and Buono, passed the State Senate on June 25, 2009 by a vote of 26-09.  Voting in favor were all Democrats present and Republicans Bill Baroni (R-14), Robert Singer (R-30), Sean Kean (R-11) and Steve Oroho (R-24).

 

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO thanks all legislators voting in favor of this important bill and respectfully urges Governor Corzine to sign it into law.
