11th Annual Labor Candidate's School a Success
39 union members from across the state took part in the 11th annual Labor Candidate's School this past weekend at the Eagleton Institute of Politics, Rutgers University. The two-day course, directed at union members seeking office in November, offered participants an opportunity to fine-tune their campaign skills in areas such as fundraising, public speaking and media relations.
Participants had an opportunity to learn from several top political operatives from both New Jersey and Washington, D.C and to engage in role-playing activities directed by the instructors. Additionally, participants heard several recent graduates of the Labor Candidate's school currently serving in elected office.
This year's class was the largest since the program, which has successfully elected 440 rank-and-file union members to public office at the local, county and state level, was launched in 1997.
