CASINO DEALERS AT CAESARS VOTE OVERWHELMINGLY TO JOIN UAW
STRONG VOICE AT WORK, NOT LUCK OF THE IRISH,
WILL BRING THESE DEALERS SECURE RETIREMENTS
AND BETTER WORKING CONDITIONS
Nearly 800 casino dealers at Caesars, Atlantic City, celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by voting overwhelmingly to form a union with the United Auto Workers.
With the NLRB supervising the election and counting ballots well into Sunday morning, results showed that more than 82% of the workers had voted ‘Yes’ to a voice at work. The final vote count in this election was an astounding 572-128.
This marks the first time in the nearly 30-year history of the casino industry in Atlantic City that casino dealers have voted to form a union.
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO thanks all of our affiliates and members, as well as the community leaders and elected officials that lent their support to these workers during this campaign. We look forward to welcoming our new brothers and sisters to our labor family at our upcoming conference in Atlantic City June 12-13, 2007.
