Our friends at UNITE HERE! need your help. Housekeepers at Hyatt hotels this week launched a global boycott of the hotel chain and a campaign to crown Hyatt the worst hotel employer in America.

 

There are many reasons why Hyatt could be considered the worst hotel employer in the country, including replacing career housekeepers with temp workers, firing workers for speaking out about abuse in the workplace, hazardous workloads, and turning heat lamps on protesters in Chicago during a heat wave. Hyatt even demanded a dishwasher in San Francisco come back to work three days after she had a C-section. When she refused, Hyatt tried to fire her.

Hyatt’s treatment of its housekeeping staff is appalling and it is imperative that Hyatt be held accountable for its actions. Any company which could treat its workers so poorly does not deserve our business. Please honor this boycott and ask others to do the same.

 

While our voices lend strength to our cause, the only way to get though to a business like Hyatt is by targeting their bottom line. Hyatt has clearly demonstrated that profits, not people are the only concern. Unfortunately, for Hyatt, people create their profits, and can just as easily take them away when we are united.
