On behalf of the one million members of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, we applaud Senate President Stephen Sweeney and Mayors Steven Fulop of Jersey City, Brian Stack of Union City and Dawn Zimmer of Hoboken for their immediate, clear and vocal opposition to a proposal to privatize PATH service.
Privatizing this vital rail service will severely hurt working families already struggling with high unemployment, burdensome taxes and rising costs. Privatization always results in lower wages and benefits for workers and higher profits for corporations.
In the days and weeks to come, we will be asking other elected officials to joining us to oppose this latest effort to undercut working families.
