The New Jersey State AFL-CIO kicked off this morning with a packed fundraiser in support of Senator Barbara Buono at Mastori’s Diner in Bordentown. The room was full of energy and the level of enthusiasm was phenomenal.
We were proud to have with us a very special and honored guest, national NOW President Terry O’Neill, who drew a precise contrast between the candidates for New Jersey Governor. The decision for working families in this election could not be clearer. Chris Christie’s policies have come at the expense of New Jersey families and his vision fails to represent the progressive values of our state.
Senator Barbara Buono on the other hand can relate to the struggles of middle class families and understands the only way to get our economy moving again is through direct economic relief for working families achieved through policies such as raising the minimum wage, property tax rebates, and restoration of the earned income tax credit – which are all measures that Governor Christie has struck down.
Following the Fundraiser Senator Barbara Buono visited the New Jersey State AFL-CIO office in Trenton and graciously thanked the Labor 2013 team for their hard work and support for her campaign and to achieve across-the-board working family victories in the state of New Jersey on October 16th and November 5th.
