There are few pieces of legislation as noncontroversial and straightforward as A-2354, which would guarantee earned sick leave to all New Jersey workers. However, in today’s political environment, not even a bill as basic as this is going to be passed without our concerted efforts.
The Assembly Budget Committee will hold a hearing on the bill next week and it is important that our affiliates and progressive partners are there to testify and show their support.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is leading the effort to enact this bill, which benefits workers statewide. The bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Pam Lampitt and Assemblyman Raj Mukherji allows employees to stay at home when they are sick without having to sacrifice needed wages. Employees would also be able to use their limited number of sick days to care for a sick child rather than send the child to school.
This bill is a win-win for workers, consumers and our middle-class working families, and we need you to come to the Assembly Budget Committee to show legislators we support this bill. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on Monday, December 15th!
