The New Jersey State AFL-CIO-sponsored 2014 Labor Walk Program is a success because of our affiliates, whose leaders and members understand that we can make a difference when we all work together.
Our affiliates make sure their locals are well represented in the “War Room,” where labor walk packets are assembled, labeled and readied for distribution on Saturday mornings. Our affiliates make sure our phone banks are staffed for targeted races, and that their members know about the issues and make their voices heard with their votes.
Our affiliates recruit volunteers for the walks every Saturday, so that our message of support for labor-endorsed candidates is delivered to union members’ homes. We are at 175,490 households visited, and counting!
Our affiliates, Central Labor Councils and Building Trades Councils make the program work.
This week alone, in steady rain, 1,132 volunteers from 87 locals knocked on 39,620 doors. It was a phenomenal effort, thanks to our affiliates, who have worked in solidarity throughout the fall election campaigns to solidify our success. For more photos from today’s walk, CLICK HERE.
We’ll be capping our election efforts with a strong Get-Out-The-Vote initiative on Election Day, November 4th. CLICK HERE to find out how you can participate.
Thank you for your eager and enthusiastic participation in the 2014 labor walks. We look forward to seeing you s we travel around the state on Election Day!
