Dispute Continues at Trenton Hotel

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO reminds you to continue to support our brothers and sisters at UNITE HERE Local 54, who have been negotiating in good faith and whose employer cut health care for workers several months ago. This dispute has not been resolved.

Our brothers and sisters at UNITE HERE Local 54 report that the owner of the Wyndham Garden Hotel near the state Capitol in Trenton abruptly changed the conditions of employment in February.

Hotel owner Edison Holding/Welcome Hotel Group LLC canceled health insurance benefits, quit paying for earned time off and began demanding that employees perform additional jobs for which they are not compensated. An unfair labor practice complaint was filed with the National Labor Relations Board.

These unfair labor practices continue today. We therefore remind our one million members and their families, our union allies and lawmakers to 9keep the situation of these workers in mind when booking meetings and making travel arrangements. We thank you for standing with our UNITE HERE Local 54 brothers and sisters, and ask that you continue to do so, until this situation is resolved.
