Last year the state Government shut down, and this year, we now have a very real threat of yet another shutdown. We don’t want this to become the norm in Trenton because it hurts all the residents of New Jersey. We need long term, sustainable solutions to break this cycle.
With a budget deadline just days away, we are encouraged that the Governor and Legislative Leadership are working toward a solution that ensures the continued delivery of government services and allows public workers to continue to do their jobs.
New Jersey needs a fair budget that works for all working families and keeps the state open. We urge all parties to come to the table and as we say in the labor movement: “negotiate in good faith and come to a fair and equitable agreement” so all the residents of New Jersey benefit.
