On Election Day, just 49 days away, voters will have the power to increase the state minimum wage from $7.25 to $8.25 an hour and include an annual cost of living adjustment by voting “Yes” on Ballot Question #2.
Today, “Raise the Wage” coalition partners met to discuss our current progress towards achieving voter approval of Question #2 and to reiterate how important it is for every voting-age New Jerseyan to realize that the minimum wage question will be on the ballot this November.
The Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. “Raise the Wage” campaign has made great strides to raise awareness for Ballot Question #2, gaining television, radio, and print media coverage of the minimum wage ballot initiative, registering tens-of-thousands of residents to vote, and garnering a diverse base of support made up of 255 labor, community, faith-based, and other progressive organizations.
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is a proud supporter of the “Raise the Wage” campaign, and realizes that our success depends on the unity of our state’s progressively-minded organizations. Therefore, we are fully committed to working with our brothers and sisters in the labor movement and in the community to achieve a victory for all come November.
