The New Jersey State AFL-CIO was proud to join with many of our community partners and union affiliates at this Saturday’s record-setting Rutgers Day, which drew a crowd of approximately 83,000. There was an incredible response and enthusiasm for the “Raise the Wage” campaign, and people were grateful to learn that their vote this November 5th has the power to determine the future of our state’s minimum wage policy.
The voter registration van was running on all cylinders at Rutgers Day, registering throngs of people to vote, providing information on the importance of the “Raise the Wage” campaign, and empowering community members to make a difference with their voice. We look forward to duplicating our success around the state leading up to Election Day.
We thank the Greater New Jersey Coalition of Labor Union Women, Greater New Jersey Pride at Work, URA-AFT, and the student chapter of the NAACP for building support for the Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. “Raise the Wage” campaign. To date, 212 organizations have signed on in support of “Raise the Wage”.
